WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
We are about helping you reach your goals whilst ensuring sustainability of the planet for your kids, grandkids and future generations. Growing up in the driest state on the driest continent, I was very conscious of water being a limiting resource. Sunraysia Environmental was created with the intention of ensuring the wisest use of our scarce resources. You can have both sustainability and profitability, so why choose any other path? However, you need to make that conscious choice and we work with those who choose a sustainable planet for their kids.
WHAT WE DO
We have two primary focuses: agricultural and natural resource development, and environmental monitoring and management. One of the very few groups that combines the soil survey and all approvals required for large scale agricultural development, we prioritise on possible show-stoppers and then time frames. This saves our clients money and time.
HOW WE DO IT
Step 1
Understand/define client needs
Step 2
Identify stop/go points and rank
Step 3
Target stop/go points in ranked order
Step 4
Efficient and timely tasks (sequential or parallel)
Step 5
Strong communications with client & regulators
Step 6
Shepherd applications through approvals process
Step 7
Independent monitoring and reporting
OUR
COMPANY
STORY
Growing up in an irrigation settlement on the Murray, Australia's greatest river, I became aware at an early age of the importance of our scarcest resource, water.
With that in mind I was one of the first to study natural resource management at what was Roseworthy Agricultural College, now University of Adelaide. A short career in irrigation research led me to study Irrigation and Soil Management in Israel, before returning to Australia to implement what I had learned.
After three years managing large irrigation properties in two states, as part of the emerging government programs encouraging irrigation efficiencies, I refreshed my soil science skills and took on additional training as a soil surveyor. I created Sunraysia Environmental to assist farmers understand the soil - moisture relationships when upgrading their irrigation systems and management skills.
Real estate developers, dryland farmers, graziers and developers of "green field" irrigation projects also required assistance with obtaining a range of environmental assessments and approvals, and the business expanded in response to those needs.
Today, with a focus on rural Australia, Sunraysia Environmental is dedicated to assisting our clients combine environmental sustainability and financial success to ensure a worthwhile legacy for those that come after them.

OUR TEAM

Kym Luitjes
Land Capability Specialist / Director
I have undertaken soil surveys for horticultural development and land use change across more than 150,000 hectares spread over most states of Australia.
Growing up on the outskirts of an irrigation area in the Riverland of South Australia, my father was a drainage contractor, so from a young age I was playing in the dirt and I’ve never grown out of that.
