We are seeking an environmental consultant who aligns with our vision of sustaining our planet for the future whilst ensuring high quality outcomes for our clients. 

A well-established land, water and environmental consultancy based in Mildura, Sunraysia Environmental continues to experience steady growth. This growth has created a fantastic opportunity for an experienced ecologist to join our team. 

Working on a diverse range of projects, your role will include flora and fauna assessments along with environmental impact assessments for land-use change and agricultural development. You will be capable of developing environmental management and environmental monitoring strategies to assist our clients maximise resource efficiency and financial outcomes.

Sunraysia Environmental is at the forefront of agricultural development and natural resource assessment in regional Australia, providing professional services and solutions to individuals, companies and all levels of government. Primarily working in Victoria and New South Wales, we undertake projects across Australia.  

You will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as environmental science, natural resource management or ecology 

  • Three years’ experience in a similar role

  • Experience in undertaking ecological site assessments, monitoring and/or investigations

  • Experience in project management

  • Efficiency and accuracy in field assessment

  • Native vegetation assessment accreditation in Victoria and/or NSW or the ability to become accredited

  • Effective communication with the client when explaining your findings and recommendations

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills

  • The willingness and ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • The desire and ability to recognise opportunities and actively generate new projects 

  • A good understanding of client needs versus wants

TERRESTRIAL ECOLOGIST
SOIL SCIENTIST

Salary: $80 - $120K

We are looking for a soil scientist who aligns with our vision of sustaining our planet for the future and our core beliefs of integrity, value and respect. Required on a full-time basis. Flexibility to work away from home for periods of a week or more.

Undertaking soil surveys for land-use change and horticultural development principally under irrigation, you will be capable of developing soil based strategies to assist the developers to maximise resource efficiency and financial outcomes.

Position Requirements:

  • The ability to scope out, quote, plan and implement soil surveys / land capability assessments for a range of purposes

  • Quick and accurate soil profile assessment

  • Willing to use our digital data recording system

  • Work with our GIS specialist to produce the required soils and amelioration maps

  • Effectively communicate the findings and recommendations of soil surveys / land capability assessments to the client

  • Where the soil survey is part of an integrated development, share information with a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate development approval and project implementation.

  • Recognise opportunities and actively generate new projects

Qualifications / Previous Experience:

 

  • Tertiary Qualified or very experienced

  • Minimum 3 years-experience as a soil surveyor. Minimum of 1-2 years in the commercial environment

  • Wide range of experience (Australia wide or international)

  • Practical farming experience

  • Understanding of GIS and soil mapping packages

  • Strong soil amelioration knowledge and skills
